Ao Bo Thong Lang: a small, calm bay near Ban Krut

Published · Last checked · Independent guide, no bookings

Not far from Ban Krut, the coast curls into a small, almost round bay called Ao Bo Thong Lang. Shallow water, fine white sand and a row of rocky islets make it one of the prettiest spots on the Bang Saphan coast. It is a good choice for families and for anyone who wants a short, easy swim.

A small, almost circular bay

Bo Thong Lang Bay sits in Mae Ramphueng subdistrict, Bang Saphan district. The curved beach makes the bay feel half-enclosed. It is quieter and less built up than Ban Krut or Mae Ramphueng.

Shallow water and low tide

The sea in the bay is fairly shallow, so many visitors see it as good for families with children. At low tide, a wide area of sand appears in front of the beach. Tides change the shape of the bay through the day, so it is worth checking tide times if you want the widest sand.

Rocky islets for photos

Small rocky islets and rock formations sit in a line in front of the bay. They are a favourite photo spot, especially when the sun lights up the water.

Food and facilities

Facilities are simple. A few small stalls and beachfront restaurants sell seafood and cold drinks. Bring what you need for the day, especially shade and water.

How to get there

Take Highway 4 (Phetkasem Road) to about km 397 and turn left towards Bang Saphan. Follow Highway 3169 to the coastal road and keep to the shoreline until you reach the bay. From Mae Ramphueng Bay, it is about 4 km along the coast road. Ban Krut Beach is about 18 km away.
